Abstract: A Sociotechnical Systems Approach to Identify Patient Safety Risks Associated with Telehealth
The COVID-19 pandemic has rapidly accelerated the adoption of telehealth, however, the constrained timelines and challenging conditions under which telehealth was implemented raises concerns about the potential for unintended patient safety risks that have yet to be fully understood. This talk aims to present how our research center is taking a sociotechnical systems approach to identify and evaluate patient safety risks associated with telehealth. In addition, this talk will provide an overview of the health equity lens that we are applying as a part of our efforts to uncover patient safety risks associated with telehealth.
