Technical Advisor:

Thrombosis in mechanical heart valves (MHVs) remains a critical concern, leading to impaired valve function and potential life-threatening complications. The objective of this research is to develop an innovative non-invasive method for detecting thrombosis onset in MHVs in a simulated setting by analyzing changes in valve closing sound. This project builds upon prior studies and leverages a Thrombogenicity Tester (TGT) simulation to monitor audio signals associated with clot formation. By employing refined signal processing techniques and conducting experiments with real blood, we aim to establish a reliable, real-time detection method. This proposal outlines our approach, anticipated challenges, and the significance of our findings in improving patient outcomes.
